[pct-l] alternate routes



Say, that sounds awfully similar to the "temporary" route we followed in
1977. Although it parallels Hwy 14 for about 20 miles, it's not altogether
unscenic. We saw a desert tortoise, desert Christmas tree, coreopsis, and
lots of other cool flowers along there.

And during lunch at a cattle pond up in Jawbone Canyon, a rustler pulled up
in a VW bus and asked if we'd help him carry out some cattle. We declined.
