[pct-l] Painting bear cans

I can think of another good reason to paint bear cans.  While hiking the
PCT this summer I saw so many bear cans, all identical.  Many camps held
clusters of them.  Some people even stored them in the bear boxes (um,
why?).
I can just picture the chagrin one would feel if one packed up and
carried off a bear canister, and opened it a few miles later, only to
find it is someone else's can, and contains nothing but a variety of
mysterious powders!  So perhaps people should paint their cans in such a
way as to distinguish them from all other cans!
