[pct-l] What's up with the Fund Raising?

Is it just me, or did there seem to be a higher percentage of people hiking to raise funds/awareness for some cause this year?
Maybe they were just more visible.

I have very mixed feelings about this. So mixed, I can't even articulate them well enough to put in this email. Anybody have any
opinions pro or con?
