To a total non-hiker, the PCT is a dangerous place and only a person one fry
short of a happy meal would ever step more than ten feet up it's path of
doom!!!! What about all the snake??? What do you do? What about the snow
storms?? What about spiders and lack of water?? ----- This is the stuff I got
hammered with back in the 70's and got tired of trying to explain. That is
the reason I refer to the PCT as " The Trail of Death". To a non-hiker , the
trail is something only fools would ever tackle. One only has to look back
at the Warner Springs Police Department where Local cops told this years
hikers dozens of "Deadly Snake Stories" or how everyone in town has lost a
relative to the desert in some manner. Most people on this list are quite
capable in the outdoors, but are far from mainstream americians. To most
people, the stuff you do by second nature is totally foreign to them. ( like
snow camping, how to hike in a desert, how to cook and how to pack without
the volume of a mini-van. Yes , to many, the PCT is the Trail of Death!!!!
Don't forget the cell-phone, you will most likely need it!!! ( Or at least
90% of theUS citizens would)
