Take a look at "Wilderness Medical Society Practice Guidelines For 
Wilderness Emergency Care" - long title; short, concise book. Edited by Wm. 
W. Forgey, MD. Published by ICS Books, INC.

Very concise advice for many wilderness-type problems. Only 72 pages total, 
and printed on recycled paper!

Probably better geared for someone with some prior First Aid training under 
their belt.
