Henry Shires, I hope you didn't follow my footsteps too closely -- I got lost
so many times! Wasn't Mather Pass terrible? I remember rueing the thing because
the topo lines were so close together on the map -- and in person it was even
worse. I fell in a crevasse near the top and my big bulky backpack held me out.
Feet dangling, it was dicy getting back out.
It's terrible to hear of a hiker getting hurt. And lost for two days!!! I can't
believe it.
We're in the middle of a big storm (at Donner Pass); funny to be discussing
snow with a raging snowstorm out your window -- in May!
We had a few inches, but it has since turned to rain.
Interested to see how the high tech stuff fares. After toting a palm pilot for
about a thousand miles last year, I'm back to a notebook.
