[pct-l] wet shoes

Question - does walking through streams and slushy snow in running shoes
lead to bad problems with wet and cold feet?

I'd like to save time on stream fords by just plowing through, wearing
running shoes, instead of changing between boots and Tevas, which can take
about ten minutes per wet ford, for me. And I'd like to go lighter on the
footwear in the Sierras, but I wonder about the wet feet syndrome.

As heavy as they were (1,750 g per pair) my Asolo boots kept my feet very
dry and warm in the snow. FWIW my Hi Tech low-top boots weigh in at 1,080 g
and a pair of cheap running shoes at 780 g. That's a savings of about a kg.
(1.1 lb.) per foot with the running shoes over the Asolo boots.

So I'm wondering about the wet feet.
