Dogs are almost always NOT allowed in National Parks. I was amazed this year
when I discovered that dogs WERE allowed in Yosemite Valley on a leash.
However, they were NOT ALLOWED off the pavement. Amusingly, an altercation
existed when a lady took her dog on the JMT [leaving Happy Isles] . Some
other hikers objected. At issue was "Is the JMT paved?"
