I checked the times for quinoa and it's only ten minutes of cooking. You
could probably cut this down to 5 to 7 minutes if you soaked the grain and
left the hot pot to sit for 5 to 10 minutes before eating. I'll have to
experiment with this. You could always carry a pressure cooker and cut the
cook time down to 2 minutes. I have not tried pre-washing at home, but all
you would have to do in camp is throw the quinoa in your dirty socks, put
them in a stream and let the water run over them. You will have prepared
your quinoa for cooking and washed your socks at the same time:). But, on
second thought, the soponins in the stream is not a good idea, best to wash
the grain away from the water and deal with your socks in town.
