Blisterfree's comments are well taken. However, I believe that I put in
enough caveats to cover my rear. The possibility of a late spring storm in
even an exceptionally dry year is why I said "but you better be prepared for
snow". I got caught in a late spring storm, in an almost snow free Sierra,
that snowed part of the day, everyday, for ten days!
Don't count on getting through without having to deal with the snow, but if
the reports late in spring before you leave indicate little snow in the
Sierras, AND, you are properly prepared AND willing, then go for it!
