RE:[pct-l] Trekking Poles

I have a pair of Komperdells and I depend on them for hiking the slopes and crossing creeks.  I am still wary and make sure the collapsable sections are adjusted tightly before I tackle a dangerous area.  Last year I had a pole which I was putting my weight on prematurely collapse on me while I was climbing the side of Mt. St. Helens.  Luckily I fell onto a rock outcropping and not down the slope.
