[pct-l] The Wind River Range

I haven't had the opportunity to hike the WRR yet, but it is at the top of my list. A few years ago I was vacationing with friends, driving from Jackson Hole to Colorado. Wasn't paying much attention (one can be desensitized by the grandeur of Yellowstone and pristine vistas of the Tetons.) Then I became aware that we were driving through somewhere extraordinary. I can't capture it in words, but it seemed to me to be a collection of thousands of perfectly arranged vignettes -- misty vegetation, rocks, flora, and water, all under a turquoise sky. I dragged out the map to find where. From then on, "Wind River" has been synonymous with "magic" in my mind's eye. Come to think of it, I may abandon my PCT dreams and hike the Winds instead.
