Carol,
In  Diane's  opinion speed hiking and records are stupid.
It is common knowledge that stupid people do stupid things.
Therefore people that are in the habit of doing stupid things are presumed
to be stupid.
Therefore, according to Diane's opinion, since my "buddies" and I are in the
habit of doing stupid things like speed hiking and seeking records, we are
presumed to be stupid.
