This is a really dry year in SoCal. Figure on carrying lots of water and relying on visitor centers and ranger stations for water and the kindness of strangers.
In the San Berdoos Deep and Holcomb Creeks should have water in the fall. And of course Big Bear and Silverwood Lakes. The small springs and creeks will more than likely be toast this fall, but you shouldn't have too much a problem there.
The San Gabriels will more than likely be bone dry. Check out the water report. Figure the springs and small creeks will be dry. Visitor centers, Newcomb Ranch, camprgrounds, KOA, etc will be your best bet for water.
Good luck!
Gary
