[pct-l] what's the best 250 mile section?

That's hard to say. Depends on many factors.
How much recent backpacking experience does your friend have?
What kind of physical shape is he in?
Can he keep up with your pace or will you slow down to his?
When are you planning to start your hike?

All these factor into "the most fun".

As pointed out earlier, the high Sierra - or the North Cascades - are the
most scenic, but snow conditions and general conditioning levels required
could argue against having your friend join you there. Other sections deemed
"fun" by section hikers might not be so when you get there (i.e. OR section
B in the Sky Lakes Wilderness; it's skeeter season to the max when thrus get
there).

Trailhead transportation options can be a big factor as your friend has to
get in and out at a convenient point - usually a resupply point for you too.
Conveniently enough for you, either the in or out point could possibly be
chosen to provide you with an otherwise unlikely resupply (i.e. Sonora Pass
between Tuolumne Meadows and Lake Tahoe).
