In my experience, mountain bikers that ride both uphill and downhill
are pretty cool people.

Those that ride downhill sections of trail that have trailhead access
at both the high and the low ends are jerks, and care much more about
their fossil fuel powered (by their support car - or in this case, a
chairlift) high speed adrenaline rush, than they do about the safety
of other trail users.
