[pct-l] Ride Advice from Timberline Lodge to Portland?

I'll be ending a 21-day hike at Timberline Lodge in mid-August.

Has anyone tried hitching into Portland from here recently?  How easy is
it?  I was thinking of standing near the edge of the Timberline parking lot
with a "PCT Hiker - Portland" sign.  Is this a good approach?  Are there
better places?
