Think bulk 1st, weight 2nd, when choosing a pack.

Get all your gear AND YOUR LARGEST FOOD SUPPLY together. It all has to fit
inside and/or attach to whatever pack you select. When your pack is full,
that's the Trail Gods' way of telling you you've got enough stuff.

Sounds like you've already got the gear done. Figure out the maximum number
of days' food you'll have to carry and make up the packets. Maybe it all
fits in a bear can when that's required; maybe not.

You may discover that it is more advantageous to have 2 packs as suggested
earlier; one for those really long food (Sierra) or water (desert) hauls and
one for the rest of the trail.


Beware the old thru-hiker adage: "Gear will expand to fit the available pack
space".
