ULA packs are by far the most popular packs on trail for thrus.  I use the
Circuit and love it.  It fits the standard old Garcia Bear Can horizontally
across the top, but it's a tight fit.  The Catalyst has more room and fits
the can easily.  Smiles, a Swiss Mountaineer we hiked with used the
Catalyst primarily because she liked to easily pack her stuff.  I had to
pack a bit tighter.   Little Engine carried a Garcia  strapped to the top
of the little 1lb CDT and did fine, even though it sometimes looked like it
was about to fall off.  Some people like other packs better, but it was
without doubt the most common brand in 2010.

With a 10lb base without pack, the Circuit would be fine.
