Joe,
Call the Mammoth Lakes Inyo National Forest office for info about the Red's Meadow bus schedule for next summer.  I doubt they have it scheduled yet.   This bus would get you from either trailhead to the ski area "Main Lodge".

Call Mammoth Mountain Ski Area for information about the bike park "shuttle bus".  It would get you from the Main Lodge to town.  It is available for hikers, but bikers get first dibs.  I doubt they have it scheduled yet.

Call the town of Mammoth Lakes Visitor Bureau to ask about the "Town Trolly".  I believe it runs year around now and it would get you from close to the hostel to anywhere the Yarts (Yosemite Area Regional Transit System) would pick up at.  In leu of this bus, you could walk just about anywhere in town.

I'm planning a short, 3-night hike for next summer. I'll jump off at
Tuolumne Meadows and come out at Mammoth. This trip has been on my bucket
list for a while, so I'm looking forward to it.

I've laid out the route in Topo and picked my campsites. I've looked into
the YARTS bus that leaves Mammoth in the morning, to take me back to my car
at Tuolumne. I've researched a hostel in Mammoth where I can stay the night
before my bus ride back. It's just a short walk to one of the YARTS stops.

Here's my question: I'll be on the trail starting around Sept 19 or 20. Does
the Mammoth area shuttle still run after Labor Day? After waking up at
Thousand Island Lake, I can come out at either Agnew Meadows or Devils
Postpile. Any recommendations as far as catching a ride into town from
either of these locations?

Thanks for the help.
