The San Gabriel Mtns stand proud above the inland empire, swarthed in mists  
and clouds. She bashfully shows her foothills between her shifting skirts of  
moisture; green spring growth and lofty snow clad buttresses.

A whistle blows and my attention is dragged back to the soccer game I'm  
watching, my daughter at goal keeper.

The mountain, she calls and I don't know why!
