[pct-l] Canada Permit

There's a potential drawback to the passport card, which I can verify from personal experience. The passport card (for US citizens) is valid for border crossing by land or water - NOT by air. That requires the standard passport book.
So, if you plan on flying back home from Vancouver or somewhere else in Canada, you'll need the passport. If you're reentering by car, or by train or bus to Seattle, e.g., the passport card will suffice.

there are some other documents that will work, like certain state IDs
and Drivers Licenses that have chips in them, so technically it is not
just a passport, but a passport is the most common document that meets
the W.H.T.I. standards.
I cross the border by foot in to Tijuana quite often and I use a
Passport Card, which is what I suggest everyone have. It is easier and
lighter, and can get wet.
