thanks everyone for the information and entertainment on this list.
I'm geared up and ready--almost.
unfortunately, my deadline for securing funding for me and my journey has come, and my money went to medical bills this year (I had hoped to finish my thru hike on the one year anniversary of open heart surgery) and while I can afford to head out, I can't afford to be home with no income all of next winter.

So I've sadly joined the class of 2011--but I will be out there, and I will be hiking to raise money for the Deep Desert Charitable Foundation which will offer medical debt relief to outdoor professionals from sudden and unforeseen illness or injury, and to inspire people to either remain or to get healthy.

I'll be unsubbing until the fall; time for me to put my focus back on the my beloved desert and my new business....
