Onyx is only about two to two and a half day's walk (51 miles) from 
Kennedy Meadows.  There is a bus that runs from Onyx to Lake Isabella 
where there are grocery stores, hardware stores, restaurants, a motel, 
great milkshakes at Neldas, etc.  Google "Kern Regional Transit" for the 
schedule.  The 12 mile hitch from Onyx back up to Walker Pass can be a 
bit difficult.  There is a post office at Onyx if you want to send some 
resupply ahead from Tehachapi/Mojave.  I didn't go into the store at the 
gas station next to the Onyx P.O., but I believe there are some resupply 
items there.  Check Yogi.
