Thumper, I bought "The John Muir Trail" by Elizabeth Wenk and it's pretty comprehensive. Plus is addresses the hike from both NB and SB. I got it at Amazon and it's also available at Wilderness Press. I'm headed to the JMT in a few weeks and the book is a good resource. Handyrock
