A bounce box or drift box is simply a moving storage box. You keep mailing
it ahead of yourself as you progress up the trail. You always want to mail
your box about 7-10 days (sometimes longer) ahead of your scheduled arrival.
The post office is only required to hold it for 2 weeks, though they may
hold it longer. When you send your box, make sure you can mail it out again
if not sent to a post office. Things you might keep in a bounce box:

shoes, extra clothes (socks, warmer clothes), ziplocks, Ibuprofen,
Vitamins, packing tape, markers, labels, soap, toothpaste, floss, esbit
fuel, razors, guide/data/town book sections, memory cards, spare water
filter parts, tp, insoles, laundry soap, duct tape, batteries, postcards,
extra tent stakes, spare pole tips, etc.

A plan for resupply and mailing your drift box may look like this:

You can easily do your whole trip using a bounce box and town resupplies
without having to mail a single thing to/from home.

Hope that helps,
