[pct-l] Needing help not hitching around the Belden area fire

PCT-Lers, i'm emailing from an internet cafe in Tahoe. I've read up now on all the fire stuff, including the roadwalk, which i'm unclear on whether or not one can even legally get to. There are a couple of us (2) that are still trying to keep an unbroken line from Mexico to Canada. It feels like only a couple of us. Anyway, the road walk that has been proposed on this listserve, even if it were somehow (how?) slackpacked, is LONG. I've done a 43 mile roadwalk, and it was of course a drag. This one would be at least twice as long, even if we could legally do it.

So here's my question, finally:

Does anyone, either as trail magic or for rental, have or know of a way we could road BIKE around the fire? From Sierra City, Quincy, or other? I know it's logistically complicated, with routing and getting the bikes back to the starting point, but we're just trying to think outside the box here so we can keep our hike going the way we set out to do it. As for me, i'd rather leave off here and make it a 2-year hike than start skipping sections now. Any help or ideas would be great. I'll be back online in an hour or so (Fri. morning) and hopefully again Sunday night or monday from Pooh Corner. My phone is 314-280.......9267.

thanks!!!!
Cuddles
