Scott - you might want to check out A FALCON GUIDE books and see if there is one on birds of the Pacific Northwest. That would pretty much do it for OR and WA. Then try for one for CA. The A Falcon Guide is a great series of informational books. I personally have one on Scats and Tracks; Bear Aware; Lion Alert; Leave No Trace and Backpacking Tips. Good stuff. Hope this helps and that others respond with more possibilities of birds along the PCT.
