Kim,
I know this message is kind of late but I'm just catching up after the
Thanksgiving Holiday.
I also love the Vasque Velocity hikers. They have a lot of toe room and are
built to last. The traction is also great and I have used them in the
Sierras several times. My husband has worn the Montrail Hardrocks which
seem to have a narrower toe space. He likes their support but also likes
the Vasque Velocity because of the extra toe room. We will be wearing the
Vasque on our thru hike in '08 but might need to change up depending on how
things go.
I don't think anything should be written in stone as far as gear goes on a
thru hike that is over 2650 miles. As we go along, conditions might change
and I'm sure so will our feet! We have a pretty good idea of our options as
far as shoes go but are always willing to try something new if the
opportunity arises.
See you on the trail,
Cindy Peters
