Switchback-- you don't know me-- I'm mostly a list lurker. 

However, did want to comment on your use of bag balm. For those with hiking
dogs, this is a great thing to put on your dogs paws after a day's hike. It
really helps keep their feet conditioned and ours has learned to love his
paw massage at the end of the day--we call him "spa dog".

From, Possibly another one of those organizer types!

"You must use something like Bag  Balm on your feet each morning and evening

to keep them from cracking.   This is a real issue when using sandals for 
hiking.  Especially on the  heels.  You might put an application on the
heels mid 
day too."
