[pct-l] Snow Sleds

Now that winter has iced in my portion of the PCT in Wash., I am going to 
built a new sled for my up coming winter visits of the trail. A good design 
showed up in BackPacker mag. last year. ( Uses 1 childs plastic sled with 4 
in. edging all around, one hipbelt from external frame backpack, 20 ft. of 
cord, 2 6ft. pieces of pvc pipe 1/2 inch. size. 4 1/4 bolts with self-locking 
nuts. ) Sleds are great if the trail isn't too bad. Sleds also make heavy 
loads a breeze. ( So pulling your 4 oz. alcohol burner around in a sled may 
make it seem like it weighes only 2 ozs ) Sorry, I couldn't resist!!! Bottom 
line is hit the winter PCT and check out using sleds.
