[pct-l] Esbit type stoves and fuel

On the subject of Esbit-type stoves:
I use one of these stoves now and find them reasonably cheap
and efficient. Paid $5.50 for the stove at a local army surplus
store and found a source of fuel tablets at about 50 cents an ounce
at a local department store in their outdoor section.
I've used various types of stoves in the last 25 years or so
including the Zip Stove and have found the Esbit-type to be the most
compact and lightest stove system for my use. I only cook once a
day and use a small titanium pot. For a windscreen I use some of my
gear suitably arranged and have managed fine in some pretty stiff
winds. A small piece of folded foil positioned on the ground just
beneath the stove keeps from scorching the duff, etc. as well as
possibly reflecting heat back at the pot.
This stove system should work well for the "cook once a day"
solo hiker at least.
