Re: [pct-l] Esbit stove?

Jeremy,

Funny you should ask about the Esbit stove. I was just experimenting
with one to see how well it worked. The Esbit stove is essentially a pot
stand with a platform to hold a solid fuel tablet. The whole thing folds
down to about the size of a deck of cards. It weighs about 3.5 oz. The fuel
tablets are 1/2 oz each. One tablet will bring one liter of cold tap water
to a boil in still air conditions. I cook by bringing water to a boil,
adding food and letting it soak. If your cooking is like mine, them the
stove will probably work for you. If your cooking is more elaborate, you
will find it hard to control the heat when cooking with fuel tablets. The
stove is cheap, about $10. The fuel is expensive, about $1.00 per oz, or 50
cents per liter boiled. I got both the stove and fuel from Campmor.

Now tell me about your 1 oz stove.
