From the standpoint of a meaningful evaluation of the product, I think the
thing to do is to have a FAFDPCTS party at Manning Park. This would be the
first annual final day PCT send-off, where all manner of grubby, but highly
skilled and knowledgable thru-hikers engage in a no-holds-barred (or tent
holes or tears) evaluation of the products that made it the whole way, and
those that did not. Any bright and cheery hopeful can stand at milepoint 20,
with equally gleaming equipment, and espouse the wisdom of their purchase
yet untested. Add in burgers and dogs, and they might even lie. :)
