[pct-l] Mount Hood Area Calendar (March 15 to May 1)

The following trail maintenance projects will offered in the Mount Hood
Area during the next month and a half.  If you are interested in
participating, send e-mail to the contact person associated with the
project..

March 27        Carpenters Lake trailhead to Bridge of the Gods.  Will
                  involve brushing, logging out with a chainsaw, and
                  bridge cleaning.
                Leader:  Steve Queen (stevequeen@csi.com).
                This project is almost full, but we still need many
                  volunteers for the other ones (hint, hint!)

April 3         Bridge of the Gods to Hatfield Wilderness boundary.
                  Will involve light brushing and logging out with a
                  chainsaw.
                Leader:  Steve Queen (stevequeen@csi.com).

April 17        Columbia Gorge.  A trail maintenance project will be
                  performed to address needs identified during the March
                  27 and April 3 projects.
                Leader:  Steve Queen (stevequeen@csi.com).

April 24        Hatfield Wilderness northern boundary south up to snow
                  level. Involves logging out with crosscut saws and
                  general trail clearing. This date is tentative,
                  depending on the results of a scouting report and snow
                  level.
                Leader: Jack Konner (jjk-jsk@aracnet.com).

May 1           Ramona Falls.  Will involve brushing in the Sandy River
                  proper and brushing and logging out with a crosscut
                  saw in the Muddy Fork valley.
                Leader:  Roberta Cobb (WhRoberta@aol.com).
                15 volunteers needed.

The following training opportunities will be offered (both are filled).

March 20        Chainsaw training (re-certification only).
                Wind River Ranger District, Carson, Washington.
                9:00a at the Ranger's office.

April 24        Chainsaw training (certification and re-certification).
                Zig Zag River Ranger District, Zig Zag, Oregon.
                8:30a at the Ranger's office.
