I would think that if the PCT were significantly easier than the AT, with

"easy" being a general term referring to the likelihood of starting at
Campo and ending at Manning in a single season, then the number of both
thru-hike starts and completions should be more on-par with the AT. The
success rate for PCT hikers is significantly higher than on the AT, but
the lower numbers overall seem to indicate that most folks decide before
even setting foot en route, that it won't be an easy trip.
