Re: [pct-l] Yogi & Booboo

Merrell M2's - I wore these, the "Peak Speed" trail runners on the
Colorado Trail this summer (1 month behind Karen, apparantly), with much
success. No blisters. Almost no discomfort the entire trip. Very stable,
lighter than any fabric high or low "boot" I've seen. Only problem is that
as with a running shoe, very flexible and no shank, so sharp rocks and
stubbing accidents must be avoided like plague. I've convinced, though,
that a well-fitted boot or shoe of this nature, which breathes well and over
time loses most of its idiosyncracies as it sort of molds to the foot, is the
first step to blister prevention. Then there's an appropriate sock, which fits
the low volume of this type of footwear, and the oft-changed sock liner, which
can degrade and flatten over time causing unbalanced pressure. And proper
hydration, nutrition, and conditioning of feet (callouses), plus cleanliness
in that area, professional massage and manicure at each town stop, etc.
