Dear List Administrator Brick Robbins,

Is is routine policy to track down personal information about
subscribers and broadcast it on your List?  Isn't that invasion of 
privacy and violation of the trust?

Why do you keep bringing up Ranger Jensen's occupation?  I recall
your telling us her workplace location, too.  I've asked around and
nobody's noticed \her\ announcing or talking about her job in the
Forest Service or anything personal. She doesn't seem to have told, 
even in email, that she is a government employee, and she obviously 
isn't crazy about \you\ being stuck on repeating it.  It appears to 
me intended to intimidate anyone who displeases you.

I, and other subscribers too, sure don't want to have dossiers kept
on us, or to see personal information about ourselves appear over
the Internet.  

I don't love the government either, but it seems kind of harsh to
blast somebody for telling some guy that there are restrictions on
woodburning stoves in fire season.  Makes sense to me (I decided
against a Zip if you're interested). I didn't get the sense that she
was quoting regulations or anything, just telling another backpacker
the scoop.  She even told him to ask the ranger station--why would
she do that if she was saying her letter was like some page out of a
law book?  First your posts got me confused, then you kept sending
different versions.  Mrs Jensen, I will call the rangers before I
head out.  Thank you for the information and good advice about fire
safety.
