[pct-l] Shoes

I'd be interested in hearing of anyone's experience with using fabric or 
plastic hiking shoes on the PCT.  I tried on a pair of Montrail Vitesse 
shoes and they felt good in the shop, but I wondered how viable they 
would be slogging on or through snow or walking on sharp rocks.
