[pct-l] Jumping the Sierras

Update from Daisy May and Jethro --

They reached Kennedy Meadows in the afternoon of the 10th and soon after
departed for Reno and then points north to pick up the trail again at
Belden, CA.

During this last leg, they met up with Chris and Janelle and also met
Janelle's Dad at the KM campground.

Daisy Mai reports that the Chimney Creek campground (free) is open and th=
e
host there, Chuck, is hiker-friendly. Additionally, the water IS on at
Chimney Creek, and contrary to the guidebook text, the trail from there
north has plenty of water available - springs everywhere.

Appreciate all the responses on the trail conditions north of Kennedy
Meadows - this helped them a lot with their decision to come back later i=
n
the summer and "do" the Sierras then.

More later from Old Station, CA - I don't expect the next phone report
until then - maybe 20 June or so.

As a side note, we added some Muscal (bug dope) to the boxes ...

Pete,
Chief of Logistics and box mailer
