Re: [pct-l] Snowpack this year
Ah, the same quandary I suffered the summer of '95. I
intended to hike from the Donner Summit area south to
Mt. Whitney in July and August, had done all the plan-
ning, most of the provisioning, etc., then convinced
myself there was too much snow that year to do the trip.
I ended up doing a number of shorter trips in the Sierra
and had a wonderful time, but I still regret not having
done the longer trip, snowpack be damned (it would have
been my longest hike to date). This year is a different
story, of course, but I'd advise trying to do the trip
if at all possible, lest you suffer my fate: skulking
on newsgroups and mailing lists, reading the trip re-
ports of others, daydreaming of what could have been,
knowing I let my best chance at a long hike in at least
a decade slip through my cowardly fingers, flogging
myself nightly, etc. Have fun, regardless,
