Blisterfree, the usual head count we kept hearing this past season (PCT '97) was
about 130.  That is the number of hikers obtaining thru permits via the PCTA.  
We met many folks that never got a permit at all, and then the Cleveland Nat 
Forest issues some.  I think its an estimate at best when they list the number 
of thru hikers, as is the number of folks finishing.
