Like all good capitalists, they will gladly accept your US money, especially
as you will probably be giving them a huge bonus (call it a tip, a tax or a
ripoff) depending on how much more value the US dollar has on the Canadian
dollar (usually $1 US = $1.20 or so Canadian). When I know I am going to
Canada, I try to get a little Canadian cash first at a US bank; if not, then I
try to use my credit card so as to get the correct exchange rate. Traveler's
checks are no better than cash, especially in rural Canada - I don't know how
many times I have been given no value whatsoever on my US dollars and
traveller's checks because "we are too far from a bank, so we can't give you
the exchange rate"!! Be prepared!
