This is old news but anyway, you can save big bucks without much additional
ounces by assembling your own backcountry oven from items around the house
or a thrift shop. Obtain an aluminum angel food cake pan (like a bunt cake
pan, with the hole in the center, a lid that will fit the top, and a round
steel catch pan that goes under the burner of a gas kitchen stove. Like the
commercial backcountry oven this last piece prevents scorching of the
contents of the cake pan and with its center hole channels the hot air up
into the center of the cake pan nested above. Its great for weekend trips or
car camps. Pillsbury instant cinnamon rolls are my favorite no-hassle
breakfast food baked with it.
