There is a good article on low impact horse travel in the April '97 =
Backpacker Magazine. They pointed out the need for a change in ethic =
from cooking in cast iron over a big fire in front of your walk-in wall =
tent to light weight no trace camping. The point of the article is that =
if backpack weight gear is carried only one head of stock is needed per =
person, thus greatly reducing the impact on the land.
