[pct-l] Snow and ice traction



I've used the MSR Denali Ascents in the past.  They're small, kinda light,
and have a fairly aggressive crampon.  I don't think that any snowshoe
will be great for edging, but the Ascents are great for vertical movement.
The "televators" do make a difference.

Also, the optional tails, while nice in theory, ended up being awkward and
not as supportive as a larger snowshoe.  Eventually I decided to just buy
a heavier duty pair of Atlas 1230's to support me (175lbs) plus a 50lb.
pack in the winter.
