[pct-l] Beer for the Trail

When I began my southbound hike this past summer from
the north end of the Eagle Creek Trail to Santiam
Pass, I started with a guy named Dale, a.k.a Chalupa,
(dude, you out there?) whose pack weighed in at a
svelte 70+ pounds. It was a small mileage day for us
for two reasons beyond the obvious one... 1) neither
of us had hiked in awhile and 2) we planned to camp at
a spot that a gentleman named Dave Nettle thought,
perhaps, involved a Bigfoot encounter with himself
back in '75 during his solo northbound hike of the
entire PCT.
Well, as we settled in at Seven and a Half Mile
Camp, Dale began to disembowel the behemoth he had
been carrying all afternoon. About a third of the way
through the unpacking, he hoisted out TWO 24-ounce
bottles of Malt liquor. If I'm not mistaken, his pack
weighed around 49 pounds the following day.
