Switchback now has gone to Ultra  Light backpacking with a base backpack 
weight under 10 pounds.
 
This includes a 2 person  tarp/ground cloth, torso pad, bug netting shelter, 
full rain gear, solar  umbrella, and 10,000 BTU canister stove.  Plus lots of 
room in the pack for  food and water.
 
Of course the base pack  weight does not include my belly-waist pack system.
