[pct-l] Section E Memories

Well, I guess to be honest I have to tell you the bad too. Not everything
is fun and games out there.

When I finally got to Hwy. 138 going north after being out on the trail for
3 days several weeks ago, Can'tQuit comes in about 10 minutes behind me to the
parked car. I am dead beside the road leaning up against the bank. I
cannot move. She immediately takes off her pack and takes off running north
along a road.

She comes back in several minutes and says she just wanted to cover the
trail section from Hwy. 138 to the school where we had her car parked several
days earlier, when we hiked south from Cottonwood Canyon.

While she was gone, Pieces come in off the trail too and he understood what
she was doing. I just thought she had lost her mind. Had become delusional
from the campaigning on the trail. It sounded reasonable to me. After all I
was beat and delusional leaning against the bank along Hwy. 138 in the
middle of a wonderful fall day.

Later in Palmdale, we went to a wonderful new Italian restaurant, where I
had some of the best soup I have had in a long time. I also had a nice seafood
salad with salmon. I very fortuitously took a foam container for leftovers
to take to the Best Western, where I would be dropped off to recover. Of
course, on the way there in Can'tQuit's Honda Pilot I promptly threw everything
up in the container. I almost filled up this large container and the floor
of her vehicle would be next. They had to carry my pack and luggage to my
room at the motel as that was way beyond my abilities. Nice. Very nice end to
my trip.

Of course, they went on to finish the last small part of Section E the next
two days. Now I have to do that part alone from Cottonwood Canyon to Willows
Springs Road (?) in December if there is no snow.

Sometimes I think I am in the wrong hobby. By the way, don't ever hike with
me. You will end up as a baby-sitter.
