I hold strong in my mind a Jimmy Buffet concert some years ago. I suddenly
realized that I had failed to make an important phone call. Making my way
past the margarita stands to the pay phone ( that tells you how long ago it
was), I found a long line. I waited some good while, and all the while,
listening to people on the phone saying, "Man, you'll never guess where I am."
There's dining and there's eating the menu...
This is in no way meant to be a disparaging remark. Sitting here watching
the rain come down in the Sierra foothills, just makes my mind wander. I
carried a cell phone on part of the PCT. And, I plan to use a GPS ( if I can
just get past the 300 page manual - in 7 convenient languages) in New Mexico on
the CDTnext year. Just finished the PCT this year ( 3 section hikes) and
plan to start on a thruhike. Hope I don't run into anyone on a cell phone,
yelling "Man, you'll never guess where I am." Unless, of course, they just
happen to be wearing a shark on their head and are carrying a liter of margaritas.
Fins to the left, Fins to the right.... :C)
